I have my kids write notes too. When they were younger, I wrote it and they wrote their name. It shows the gift giver that it is appreciated and teaches good manners. Most parties my kids go to, we never get a thank you note. I hope that thank you notes never go out of style! They are important!

Definitely make them write thank you's. They hate it and complain about doing it, but then I threaten to take all their presents they just received away and they change their tune.

This is a great question and YES! I make them write the thank you notes themselves with a pen and paper. If someone is thoughtful enough to buy a gift, then I want my children to take the time to write a note. I am not a big fan of these new computer-generated group thank you notes that we have received from other birthday parties.

Yes, not only does it teach good etiquette, but it is also a great way for kids to practice writing skills. I let them pick out their own thank you notes at the store (Dollar store has lots of cute ones!), and add stickers/drawings. My kids actually enjoy it!

For a young child's birthday, yes. And may it be on time, personalized & stamped themselves! :-) Though, our grandparents & other family members tend to frequently send year-round gifts, & I think a phone call or a quick picture text could be enough in those cases.
