Wolfe's Pond Park and Beach
At Wolfe's Pond Park in Staten Island, your family can enjoy the beauty of both a beach and a park. Watch the ducks in the pond, play on the playground, grill out, take a walk in the woods, or just lay and enjoy the beach. Space abounds at Wolfe Pond - which is one of Staten Island's largest parks - so it's likely your family won't be crowded or cramped.
Cedar Grove Beach
This quaint, tranquil beach gives you wonderful views of the Manhattan Bridge, and you're going to encounter many locals here! Swimming is allowed when lifeguards are on duty.
Franklin D. Roosevelt Boardwalk - Midland Beach
This remarkable boardwalk is the perfect place to rent a bike, pack a picnic, and enjoy the sparkling water. The boardwalk is historic, and families love to come here because of the tremendous views and fun activities! Midland Beach tends to be somewhat less crowded than neighboring South Beach. Enjoy the playground, sea turtle fountain and tennis and shuffle ball courts. Swimming is permitted when lifeguards are on duty.
Franklin D. Roosevelt Boardwalk - South Beach
Take in a sweet view of the Verazzano Bridge at this Staten Island beach off the Franklin D. Roosevelt Boardwalk. This tranquil beach offers the popular Fountain of Dolphins (six bronze dolphins that light up at night) on the boardwalk. The large Ocean Breeze Fishing Pier is ideal for fishing with the kids, trails or stroller strides along the boardwalk. During beach season, lifeguards are on duty and swimming is allowed.
Coney Island Beach & Boardwalk - Brighton Beach
There's nothing more iconic than Brighton Beach, and it's right near Coney Island! This bustling, popular destination is the perfect antidote to a hot summer's day! Brighton Beach is classic New York, and the boardwalk is tremendously beautiful at sunset. Plenty of eateries and things to do near “Little Odessa," you'll never forget this family day at one of NY's best beaches. Swimming is available during beach season and when lifeguards are on duty.
Manhattan Beach
Playgrounds, barbecue pits, umbrellas, and so much more! This is the best family-friendly beach in Brooklyn, and locals flock here on a hot summer's day. Easy to get to and with plenty to do. During beach season and when lifeguards are on duty, swimming is allowed. There are eateries near the water, and picturesque sunsets are free!
Orchard Beach and Promenade
This beach-promenade in Pelham Bay Park is a treasure in the Bronx. Easy to access and offering all the joys of nature, this is lovingly called the "Riviera of New York." Swimming is allowed when lifeguards are on duty. Changing areas with showers are available.
Long Beach
A quick ride on the Long Island Railroad will transport you outside the city to cool off for a day at the beach. Long Beach has an expansive beach, beautiful two-mile boardwalk, easy to access to pizzerias, restaurants, and more. Swimming is allowed when lifeguards are on duty.
Jones Beach State Park
With 6.5 miles of white-sand beach on the south shore of Long Island, Jones Beach offers many activities including swimming, strolling down the boardwalk, fishing, concession stands, plus mini golf, shuffleboard and basketball courts. You can attend concerts at Northwell Health Theater or visit the Jones Beach Nature Center for more activities. You can also rent umbrellas, lounge chairs, etc.
