7 Best Libraries for Dallas and Fort Worth Kids
Tour the best libraries for kids in DFW! Even in the age of technology, visiting the library can be such a fun experience for little ones. Many of the libraries on this list not only have a great selection of children's books, they also have excellent tot programming like story times, classes, singalongs, family events, and much more. We hope this list helps encourage a love of books and reading in your children!
Audelia Road Branch Library
Stephanie W.: In addition to toddler and baby story times, Audelia Road Branch Library has a chess club for kids, early literacy and family play times, craft times, and even a special Teen Advisory Board for older kids wanting to get more involved! Plus, check out one-time events that are fun for the whole family, like performances by local groups, a Birthday Party for Dr. Seuss, Nasher Museum events at the library, and a How to Train Your Dragon Party with themed games and prizes!
Bookmarks in NorthPark Center
Stephanie W.: Bookmarks is the perfect library for kids, because it's exclusively meant for kids! This Dallas Public Library is located inside NorthPark Mall, and has events like story times and singalongs for kids all day throughout the week. There are toys for younger ones to play with, computers with educational games on them, a large open play space, and of course, tons of books for kids of all ages!
The George W. Bush Presidential Library
Stephanie W.: This Library is so unique to Dallas, so if you have kids who love history or have an interest in politics, they'll definitely want to go to this museum! There are National Archives from the Bush administration, plus Presidential records and photos and videos. The Kids Clubhouse includes games, trivia, and a special library of read aloud books, handpicked by Laura Bush as her favorites. Kids who like animals will get a kick out of the Barney cams videos which followed the Bush's family dog in his time at the White House!

Bachman Lake Branch Library
Stephanie W.: Bachman Lake has plenty of great programs for your little ones, including baby basics, toddler story time, and Afterschool Supersnacks- a free, nutritious meal provided by Equal Heart. Dance and movement for preschoolers and hands on, STEAM activities for elementary-aged students are definitely great classes to check out, too!
Denton North Branch Library
Stephanie W.: Denton's North Branch Library has unique offerings like Read to Rover, where younger kids can practice their reading skills by reading to a certified therapy dog, or create themed crafts. Teens can enjoy After School Cinema, where kids aged 11-17 can watch a movie after school (that they get to vote on!), or join the Anime Club. Another great event is the Family Night StoryTime with music, reading and rhymes for little ones, which takes place in the evenings, so working parents can attend too!
Grapevine Public Library
Stephanie W.: In addition to story times, music hours, and programs for babies, this colorful and welcoming library has great resources for kids of all ages. Their Teen Zone is a separate area for older kids (a great place to do homework or find the perfect book!), and they have wonderful programs for kids with special needs, including a sensory room and story time.
Southlake Public Library
Stephanie W.: Southlake's Public Library has a beautiful mural painted by a local artist, providing a whimsical feel to their children's area. Music and movement, STEAM, and story times for babies and preschoolers are put on throughout the year, and you can also register for clubs like 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten, Storytelling, and WizArt, which teaches kids about different artistic techniques!
