Where to Take Your Kids Ice Skating in Philadelphia

Known for its rolling hills and scenic vistas, the centerpiece of the park is its 535-acre lake. This is popular spot for visitors and families enjoying year-round water recreation. Marsh Creek State Park is also a great place to go sledding! There are nearly 7 acres of sledding slopes by the picnic area in the East Launch.

Among the beauty, there is a smaller family-friendly section dedicated to ice skating when conditions permit. This is a man-made rink over an existing volleyball court. It's not maintained, but they will split the rink for skaters hoping to play hockey. There's also nearby parking, restrooms, and a playground.

Sue Krawitz Tandoc:  Lace up your skates and check out the Earl E Schaffer Bethlehem Municipal Ice Rink, the only covered outdoor Olympic size skating rink in the Lehigh Valley. Juan L.:  Rizzo Rink is a hybrid indoor/outdoor ice-skating rink founded with the aim of providing athletic programs and lessons to those that may not have access to them in South Philly. They have strong messaging about character development and sportsmanship, which is reflected throughout their arena.

Despite being centered on hockey, they have extensive public skate hours – and admission is free! Skates are available for rent. There's a feeling of community at this rink which makes it great for families and to make new friends.

Your ice skating experience will feature a beautiful holiday tree, fire pit stations, warming cabins, games for all ages, and more. They are open every day of the week, including holidays!
