Stellar Planetariums & Observatories for Dallas Kids

Discovery Science Place
Lisa R: This children's science museum has more than a dozen hands-on exhibits that teach STEM topics ranging from farming to medicine. While the area devoted to worlds beyond our own is small, young explorers will appreciate the Orion space capsule mock-up and other NASA inspired learning modules.
Texas Astronomical Society
Lisa R: In addition to regular member-only meetups, this astronomical society hosts public star gazing parties at different locations in the DFW area.
Perot Museum of Nature and Science Expanding Universe Hall
Lisa R: Known as one of the best museums for kids in DFW, the Expanding Universe Hall at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science offers fun and interactive ways for kids to learn about the stars, planets and distant galaxies.
Rafes Urban Astronomy Center
Stephanie W.: Rafes Urban Astronomy Center hosts Star Parties where you can learn about the night sky from their knowledgeable staff and students and enjoy an opportunity to see objects in space through their telescopes!
Lone Star Observatory
Lisa R: Lone Star Observatory is an advanced amateur observatory. Although the observatory is typically closed to the public, the group raises money through private parties, for up to 5 people. Parties include an entire evening of night sky viewing with an amateur astronomer.
The University of Texas at Arlington Planetarium
Lisa R: UTA Planetarium offers a 60-foot dome projection surface, fully digital projection system, and advanced software. UTA Planetarium offers a variety of shows for the general public.
Tandy Hills Nature Area - Public Star Parties
Stephanie W.: Held as close to the first quarter moon every month, Fort Worth Astronomical Society hosts Star Parties at Tandy Hills Nature Area. Star Parties are open to the public and great for those new to astronomy! Club members are there volunteering their time to introduce to and educate you and your kids about everything space and sky related. Different kinds of equipment is brought to these events so you can see up close and personal just what is going on in our solar system!
