13 Fun Date Ideas Around Miami for Couples

Hannah Scott:  Some of my favorite date nights EVER have been spent on a bench in a highly trafficked area, just people watching and making up stories with my husband about the characters walking by. We always end up laughing hysterically.....and laughter is the glue that holds a marriage together. One of the best people-watching spots near Miami is the Historic Downtown Hollywood district. An eclectic assortment of people flock to this area for the food, entertainment, and arts. Grab a bite to eat if you're hungry, then sit back and check out all the personalities around you!

Hannah Scott:  Have you tried Stand Up Paddleboarding? Miami's Oleta River State Park is part of a 1500+ mile Paddleboarding trail, and the perfect place for you and your honey to give it a try together! The Oleta River is surrounded by mangrove forests and plenty of places to stop and take in the scenery together. Enjoy sunset tours and full moon kayak tours, too. If you've got the time, you can even plan an overnight stay in one of the on-site cabins!

Hannah Scott:  It is my humble opinion that jazz can be the most romantic music of all. Take advantage of that with the free jazz concerts at the Museum of Contemporary Art in North Miami! You'll enjoy experiencing something you don't hear (or see) everyday, and sharing that with your love.

Hannah Scott:  Raise your hand if you loved bowling as a kid! Kings Dining and Entertainment takes things up a few notches from the grimy bowling alleys of my childhood, with swanky décor, 14 lanes, 7 pool tables, air hockey, shuffleboard, foosball, and more. Top it off with a full food and drink menu, and you've got the perfect formula for a night out with your sweetie. Told you we could do better than Netflix!

Hannah Scott:  Classical music gets a bad rap for being stuffy and old-fashioned, but attending a WALLCAST performance just might change your mind! The New World Symphony performs as visual elements are projected on a 7,000 square foot wall. Talk about a real sensory experience -- and it won't cost you a dime. Bring a blanket or lawn chairs and snacks to enjoy together!

Hannah Scott:  Every couple should take the time to be a tourist in their own hometown every now and then. The Millionaire's Row Sightseeing Cruise is a fabulous way to see Biscayne Bay, the Miami skyline, Port of Miami, Fisher Island, Miami Beach, and Millionaire's Row, all from the luxurious comfort of a yacht.

Hannah Scott:  Calling all cheapskates! If you need a unique AND affordable date night, check out the Wolfsonian Museum on select Friday evenings for free guided tours! The Wolfsonian features collections of diverse objects from the 1850s and beyond, giving insight into the art and design of each era and its power over our lives. This is a great choice for history buffs, but also anyone with the slightest bit of curiosity.

Hannah Scott:  One of our goals as a couple is to visit all of the US national parks together, and the Everglades are definitely worth the stop! Check out the Shark Valley Tram Tours for a couple hours of wildlife viewing from an open vehicle and guided by a naturalist. You're sure to spot plenty of wetland creatures in their natural habitat -- so much better than a trip to the zoo.

Hannah Scott:  When my husband and I were dating in college, we were dirt poor and spent a lot of time at the park together for our dates. The only problem? Most parks technically close at sundown. But South Pointe Park is actually open until 2AM, making it an ideal date night destination! Check out the beach area, observation deck, and maybe even plan to do some biking or rollerblading together. If nothing else, it's a fabulous place to watch the sun go down and the city of Miami light up.

Hannah Scott:  My husband and I recently binge-watched a TV show about a family who lives on a ranch, and now we're more or less obsessed with the idea of riding horses together. The Miami Equestrian Club makes that a variety of scenic trails and guided tours for inexperienced and experienced riders! You're welcome to bring snacks (mid-ride picnic break, anyone?) or purchase food on site.

Hannah Scott:  We may be a long way from Broadway, but the Actor's Playhouse exists to bring the same professional level of theater to the Miami area! Shows are chosen each season with variety in mind, so you're likely to find something on the calendar that will appeal to you. Enjoy the excuse to sit back and relax for a couple hours uninterrupted, and go home a little more cultured than when you left!

Though she's never trained professionally, Eleanor passes along the wisdom she learned from her mother as a child in China about creating simple, delicious, and nutritious meals with a wok.
