Hat Creek has a focus on serving the whole family. Because of that, each of their locations has great play yards for kids, a tasty kids menu, and delicious burgers, fries and specialty shakes.
Babe’s Chicken Dinner House
Family-run Babe's specializes in serving a casual homestyle dinner that the whole family can enjoy together, with fried favorites as well as healthier options. Each restaurant has its own fun history and decor, and the Frisco location has a real fire truck and giant tractor parked outside. Waiter-led games and dances punctuate a typical meal.
Piada Italian Street Food
christadiserio: Piada is a fast and casual Italian street food restaurant that is just delicious! This place is perfect for a weeknight with the family when you don't feel like cooking. Their menu offers everything from salads to customized pasta bowls and Italian-style wraps (piadas) for adults, as well pasta bowls with a choice of an Italian sauce and a large meatball for the kids. If you want to steer away from your average soft drink, be sure to grab an Italian soda, too!
Taco Diner
Stephanie W.: Tex-Mex is a Texas staple, and Taco Diner does it right! Owned by the same restaurant group as Mi Cocina, Taco Diner is a more casual restaurant with just as delicious food. Their queso blanco and brisket tacos are to die for, and they also have all day breakfast items like chilaquiles and huevos rancheros. Parents will love their signature drink, the Mambo Taxi- a mix of sangria and frozen margarita that is refreshing and delightful!
IKEA Frisco
Lisa R: I'm a big Ikea fan, and not just of the furniture. Their ridiculously affordable meals consist of hearty, Swedish-inspired dishes that are tasty, yet simple enough to please picky palates. Members of the free family loyalty program get free coffee and tea each time they go and kids eat free on Tuesdays!
Family loyalty members can also drop off their potty-trained 37"-54" tall kids in the Smaland play area for free 30 minute play sessions before or after they eat- enough time to grab another cup of coffee and browse on your own.
Cane Rosso
Stephanie W.: Put simply, Cane Russo is the best pizza in Dallas. Its Neapolitan style pizza has unique toppings like bacon marmalade, candied jalapenos and honey, and they are sure to have your kids screaming for more. The mozzarella and burrata cheeses are housemade, and the pizzas are all 14"- the perfect size to get a few and share around the table!
The String Bean
Lisa R: The String Bean dishes up authentic southern comfort food for brunch, lunch, and dinner. The restaurant is extremely kid friendly and even has a designated play area. Kids eat free on Monday nights and at other times with the purchase of an adult entrée. The hearty home-style dishes, varied menu, and bar are highly rated by adults with and without kids, although the numerous kid-friendly touches makes this a top destination for young families.
Start Real Food Fast
christadiserio: If you're trying to incorporate healthier foods into your kids diet but don't have time to cook, Start Real Food Fast is the place for you and your family to dine. Start's breakfast, lunch and dinner menus feature fresh and organic ingredients that will appeal to the whole family. For example, the kid's menu offers PB & banana, a cheese quesadilla & more. Adults have the choice of some unique items, too, such as empanadas, Mahi Mahi wraps and other delicious items. Eat out and don't feel guilty about it - we're talking about price and healthy foods!
Eatzi’s Market & Bakery
Stephanie W.: Eatzi's Market & Bakery is a unique dining experience the whole family will love! You and your kids can enjoy a baked good like tiramisu or zucchini bread from their bakery, or pick out a prepared dinner or lunch option from the circular counter they have in the middle of the market. Fresh breakfast, sandwich and salad items can be made-to-order, and there is a special preparation each day of the week. There are countless delicious foods to be enjoyed at Eatzi's, and your mouth will water the moment you enter the market!
Dream Cafe
christadiserio: Dream Cafe is both a kid and adult restaurant dream come true. From the kid's menu containing Mickey Mouse pancakes to the adult menu with options, such as granola crusted French toast and other lunch and dinner options, you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Vegetarian, gluten-free and vegan options are available. Check the various locations for covered outdoor seating.
Hopdoddy Burger Bar
Stephanie W.: My personal favorite burger in Dallas, Hopdoddy has a delicious menu of beef, chicken, Ahi tuna, and turkey burgers, plus the most delicious truffle fries and green chile queso you've ever tasted. The Impossible Burger, made entirely without meat, is a great vegan option, as well as La Bandita, a veggie burger. You or your kids can even donate to a local charity by purchasing the Goodnight/Good Cause burger! Finish off a tasty meal with one of their yummy shakes (vanilla birthday cake is a fan favorite).
Magic Time Machine
With costumed characters and unique dining areas, The Magic Time Machine will take you back in time as you enjoying a tasty meal! Servers dress in costumes that represent different pop culture icons from the past and present. The Tee-Pee, Lunchbox, a Dunce-cap and a Carousel complete with horses, are among the most popular dining spots within the restaurant, plus the salad bar, which is a modified red 1952 MG-TD Roadster! Delicious steaks, prime ribs, and fresh seafood are served, along with a great kids menu. This is a family-friendly restaurant experience your kids won't soon forget!
Cafe 43 (Bush Presidential Center)
Lisa R: This little café inside the Bush Presidential Center is open for brunch and lunch and doesn't require that you visit the museum in order to enter, although it pairs perfectly with a museum visit, suitable for elementary aged kids and older.
Menu items include Bush family favorites and regional dishes with complex flavors and locally sourced ingredients. The café is decorated with original art by President George W. Bush and has an upscale ambiance, but is noteworthy for its welcoming atmosphere and beautiful surroundings.
Truck Yard
christadiserio: Picnic tables under string lights, an array of of food trucks, ice cream and booze for the adults - what more could you ask for? Truck Yard has it all. With all the multiple rotating food trucks, such as BBQ, dumplings, tacos, etc., you could visit multiple nights a week with the whole family and never get bored. Oh, and if the kids make a mess, you're outside, so you won't even feel bad about it.
Yolk - One Arts Plaza
christadiserio: Where do I even start? Yolk has some absolutely delicious food at an unbeatable price for everyone. Kids will enjoy Oreo pancakes, S'mores pancakes, or a Big Kid Breakfast (a little bit of everything). They're not just limited to breakfast items - lunch is available on the kid's menu too. Adults will love the unlimited menu items, like crepes, pancakes, scrambles, Croque Madame, and more. Oh, and just like the kid's menu, they offer lunch items, such as tuna melts, BLT's, salads and other scrumptious items. Yolk also has a louder environment, so you won't feel bad if your kids act up!
