13 Summer Theater Camps Around Boston

LINX Camps offers the greater Boston area a premier summer day camp experience with fun and innovative divisions — junior, general, adventure, performing arts, sports, and STEAM. Campers can choose from an extensive variety of camps: Ninja Warriors, Cupcake Battles, and Theater to Fashion, Spy, and more! An enthusiastic and attentive team, led by industry experts, recognizes each camper's strengths, and the campus at the Dana Hall School in Wellesley has many fields for traditional camp games and activities - as well as air conditioned indoor facilities for when the weather doesn't cooperate!

A full day of art, music, drama and outdoor fun and games, with a new theme every week.

Campers will have so much fun developing acting skills through improv exercises, character studies and role-playing. The kids will also design costumes, build sets and learn to apply theater makeup. Each session will focus on a different musical. The session will culminate in a final performance where campers can showcase their new skills for family and friends. Each day will also include swimming in the outdoor, heated pools. Daily lunch and snack are provided and bus transportation is available.

The Mosesian Center for the Arts and Watertown Children's Theatre team up to provide several youth theater programs for their summer camp, with different themes and age groupings.

Kids' Cabaret is an upbeat camp where instructors will introduce them to singing, acting, dancing, as well as prop and set design. There will be a strong emphasis on team building through theater games, script-writing exercises, and improvisation. There will be a final performance where the kids showcase their newly-honed skills.

Brookline SmartSummer programs offers theater and performance classes for kids designed to enhance each child's creativity and comfort in front of an audience. Younger students get a chance to develop their storytelling skills through puppetry, music, dance, acting, and theatrics. Older children will participate in acting, music, dance, and art classes. Students will create a new and original show, learn dialogue and choreography and help create scripts, sets, and musical numbers. Each session finishes with a unique, professional performance.

At Kidstock, children of all levels and ages can learn and participate in a theater program in which they will develop skills while having fun. Camps are age specific and all incorporate drama, dance, art, music and a performance. All kids will have a chance to be on stage during the resulting staged production.

At the Central Square Theater's Summer Stage Camp, young performers can study script analysis, learn ensemble building, set design and more! Instructors are Underground Railway Theater teaching artists and Central Square Theater professionals.

The Youth Musical Theater Summer Program at the Boston Conservatory at Berklee offers older kids with the acting bug a chance to explore the world of musical theater in a fun atmosphere. Students participate in daily classes in music, dance, and acting as well as group activities, afternoon rehearsals, and a group performance at the end of the week.

The Acting Out! Theater Company strives to provide opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to become involved in theatrical stage productions in a fun and supportive environment. Their Summer Youth Theater Session offers sessions for improvisation, theater & studio skills, and theater ensemble workshops for stage productions focusing on music, dance, vocals, costume and set design.

Creative Arts offers summer theater programs that provide age-appropriate actor training customized to each student's level of skill and ability. The theater skills taught translate into life skills such as self-confidence, collaboration and responsibility. Each camp will conclude with performances to showcase their hard work.

Theater in the Open lets kids explore the world of theater with a variety of summer programs. Campers will enjoy classes in acting, improvisation, dance, and visual art and explore nature in Maudslay State Park.
