Erin P.:  The Superstition Scenic Narrow Gauge Railroad at Goldfield Ghost Town is a 36-inch gauge train that includes a Plymouth diesel pulling a passenger car and a caboose. Hop aboard this train for a journey around the 1.5 miles of track that circle the town. The engineer will narrate the trip by telling the history of Goldfield, the Superstition Mountains, and the desert southwest in general. The train departs every 35 minutes, and the journey lasts approximately 20 minutes.

Erin P.:  At the Freestone Railroad, you can hop on board one of their shady, covered coaches or their breezy, open air coaches for a 3/4-mile train ride around the park. Passengers of all ages will enjoy their ride aboard this Sante Fe Style Engine.

Erin P.:  The Arizona Railway Museum is a great place to visit for families who like trains! The Museum is dedicated to the acquisition, restoration, preservation and display of railway equipment, artifacts and mementos related to railways of yesterday and today. There are both indoor and outdoor exhibits. There is also a gift shop with lots of toy trains and accessories available for purchase.

Cost: Family: $15; Adult: $5 (12+yrs); Child:$2 (2-12yrs)

Erin P.:  The city of Scottsdale’s Parks & Recreation Department operates the McCormick-Stillman Railroad Park, which is a fantastic destination for the little train lovers in your life! Enjoy a day of family fun at this 30-acre park, complete with a ride on the Paradise & Pacific Railroad and a spin on the vintage carousel. There is also a 10,000 sq. foot model railroad building as well as a railroad museum.

Cost: Tickets to ride the train are $2.00. Children two and under can ride for free.

Erin P.:  The Desert Breeze Express is ready for you to hop on board one of its open-air coaches for a fantastic 3/4-mile ride around the park, winding past grassy play areas and around the lake. You might also enjoy a ride on the antique carousel while you are there. Delicious treats are available in the snack bar!

Erin P.:  Daisy Mountain Railroad is a 24-inch gauge railroad located in the community park in Anthem, AZ. You can enjoy a 10-minute ride on the train as it winds past hills and sports fields, chugs through a tunnel, and circles around the children's playground before returning to the loading platform.

Cost: Anthem Residents: $3.50/ticket (I.D. required); Non-Residents: $4.00/ticket; Babies under 1 ride for free with a fare-paying adult
