Check our map to find the best sledding hills near you, and add a review for any you've visited with your kids. If your family’s favorite spot is missing from the list, it's easy to submit a new recommendation to share your find with fellow parents.

Memorial Park Sledding Hill
C. Wal: Great sledding hill on the North end of the park. There is a small toboggan slide and it is well lit at night. Parking is free and ample.
Soldier Field Sled Hill
The beautifully-renovated parkland around the stadium was designed for public use and features a well-curated sled hill (among other family friendly areas for seasonal use such as a Children's Garden). Paid parking is available in the Waldron Parking Deck or Soldier Field South Parking Lot.
Dan Ryan Woods Visitor Center Sledding Hill
C. Wal: Dan Ryan Woods are arguably the best sledding hills in Chicago! Not suitable for the youngest of sledders. The hill is steep and big with many, many sledders.
Cricket Hill
Chicago proper is pretty darn flat, so while Cricket Hill is not designated as a sledding hill by the Chicago Park District, the sloped incline plus plentiful surrounding fields make it a popular destination for local families looking for a little sledding action.
James Park Sled Hill
There is fun sledding at James Park. This former landfill is large enough to accommodate large crowds, though note that tobogganing, skiing and snowboarding are not allowed, and that sledding is also prohibited on the large center hill.
Barrie Park Sled Hill
Barrie Park has a steep sled hill created just for sledding and tubing! Park benches and bathrooms are nearby.
Swallow Cliff Woods North Sledding Hill
The sledding hill is open when the ground is frozen and covered with a minimum of six inches of snow. Be sure to call 708-839-5617 to make sure that the sledding hill and parking areas are open.
Caldwell Woods Sledding Hill
Sledding hills are open at Caldwell Woods when the ground is frozen and covered with a minimum of three inches of snow. Call 847-647-2240 to check whether the hill and parking are open before heading out. The hill is lit up at night!
Techny Prairie Park and Fields Sled Hill
Techny Prairie Park features a 28-foot-high sledding hill that is lit at night, with stairs to help climb to the top of the hill. There is also a warming shelter for when you need a break from sledding!
Flick Park Sled Hill
Flick Park offers sledding when the Park District determines the snow to be deep enough. Call 847-724-3337 ext 24 for current sled hill conditions. The sled hill is lit for evening sledding! There is no supervision or warming facilities at the sledding hill so plan ahead if you have little ones.
Danny Cunniff Park Sled Hill
The Danny Cunniff Park sled hill is located south of Centennial Ice Arena, near the back of the park. There is no supervision or warming facility.
Berens Park Sled Hill
If you have older kids, head over to Berens Park for a great sledding hill that is lighted at night. Only plastic sleds, tubes and saucers are allowed.
Wood Oaks Green Park Sled Hills
Jim McGowan: 3 different hills (smaller, medium and large) side by side with dedicated "walk-up lanes" so no need to dodge people walking up the hill. Definitely one of the bigger hills in the area.
Woodland Trails Sled Hill
The Woodland Trails sled hill is well-maintained and has free sleds at the bottom for the public to use! The slopes are located near the Weiss Community Center, and access to Community Center resources (indoor heat and washroom) make this an ideal place to go sledding with the kids. Additional parking at Grace Lutheran Church is available for crowded days.
Blair Park Sledding Hill
This intermediate hill is lit and open in the evenings.
