Brooklyn Farmacy & Soda Fountain
Jennie Utsinger: Best known for their charming decor and extensive selection of specialty sundaes, floats, shakes and cocoas, Brooklyn Farmacy & Soda Fountain is housed in a historic 1920s apothecary. Sit at the counter for an old-fashioned soda fountain experience or snag a table in back and play a few board games while you wait.
Alice's Tea Cup
Shila: The three locations (chapters I, II, and Alice's To-Go), are all "Alice in Wonderland" themed, as you'll see on the bright, whimsical wall decor. Many families and tourists make this a top destination! Specifically, this is a popular spot for Moms and daughters enjoying delicious tea time, alongside three-tiered sweets and savories. The tea list is huge, and it also contains many non-caffeinated drinks for kids. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are also served.
As a bonus, "fairy wings" are available to wear while dining (and for purchase). Ask your waiter to sprinkle fairy dust on you, too!
Beetle House NYC
Kelly R: Kids are welcome at this Halloween-themed restaurant in NYC, with decor that looks like something out of a Tim Burton film and unique performances by the talented staff. Some of the performers might be a little intense for the under 10 crowd, but you know your kid best.
Koneko
Jennie Utsinger: Inspired by the Japanese cat cafe phenomenon, Koneko has three cat-centric spaces where you can spend time with adoptable cats. A small but high-quality cafe menu includes Stumptown coffee, tea from In Pursuit of Tea, and an assortment of house-made Japanese snacks and sweets.
Ellen's Stardust Diner
Kelly R: This NYC themed restaurant institution is a must-visit for kids who love the city’s live theater. Diner favorites are served up alongside a musical show performed by the talented waitstaff, many of whom are Broadway-bound. Expect an intimidating line depending on when you visit, and a tourist-friendly, vibrant (and loud!) atmosphere.
Serendipity 3
Jennie Utsinger: For years, Serendipity 3 has been attracting locals and tourists alike for its charming ice cream parlor theme and array of over-the-top ice cream concoctions. The food menu features their unique spins on comfort food favorites like mac & cheese, burgers and waffles. Come for a meal or just for Serendipity's Frrrozen Hot Chocolate, a huge bowl of icy hot chocolate garnished with marshmallow, graham crackers, and chocolate.
