The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Greater Charlotte mission is to embrace families of sick or injured children by providing the comfort and support of home during their greatest time of need. They offer volunteer opportunities for youth and teens.
Loaves & Fishes
Loaves & Fishes provides groceries and meals to those in need. They have a variety of opportunities available from assisting in their warehouse to delivering groceries or meals to neighbors in need. For a family-friendly opportunity, children under 14 can volunteer with their parents for home grocery or meal deliveries. Additionally, they are always looking for little notes or cards to add to their grocery boxes and meals as a pick-me-up for clients and recipients.
Habitat for Humanity
Habitat for Humanity works to develop, enhance and build affordable housing for families in need. Volunteers under the age of 15 with Habitat's Youth Programs can organize book drives, provide lunch to their core volunteer groups or regular crews, or be part of home dedications and events for their homeowners throughout the year.
Bright Blessings USA
Bright Blessings is a volunteer-led organization that impacts homeless and impoverished children. Their core programs include Bless-A-Birthday, Bless-A-Baby, Gift of Literacy and Gift of Care. They usually have two Open Volunteer Sessions a month that are open to the public for all ages. One is free and the other costs $10 per participant. They also have their Adopt-A-Party option, which is where they send out volunteers to certain shelters to help facilitate a birthday party!
