    Moana (2016)

Alexandra F.:  We went through a phase where this movie was on pretty much every day in our house - and it is so good, I didn’t even mind it! Great music, great story, great characters.

    The Goonies (1985)

Pirates, treasure, adventure and a group of childhood best friends combine to make up one of the best 80s movies for kids.

    The Princess Bride (1987)

Alexandra F.:  I'll never forget when I first watched this movie with my then 9- and 11-year-olds, and seeing their faces mirror Fred Savage's exactly as they began to hear the love story unfold - wary and more than a little skeptical. Never fear! Though it is indeed a story about true love, it is also filled with adventure, sword fights, giants and pirates. Oh. And R.O.U.S. (Rodents of Unusual Size). This movie is hilarious - your tweens & teens will love it.

    Annie (1982)

Kristy Pepping:  Although this movie has been redone, I highly recommend the original. This 80s kids movie is a classic with some memorable songs that will get your kids singing along!

The Mitchells vs. The Machines (2021)

Alexandra F.:  My teen and I loved this movie! It was so clever, colorful and fun, and had us both laughing out loud throughout the whole movie. Definitely great for all ages, but perhaps particularly relevant for older kids and teens, given the familiar relationship challenges between the teen protagonist and her father that are at the heart of the story.

    The Sound of Music (1965)

Vanessa M.:  I fell in love with this movie when I was a 6 year old kid! I am so glad my older daughter loves it too. The only caveat is that it is a very long movie (almost 3 hours), so it can be hard to find time/sit still to watch the whole thing at once.

    The Sandlot (1993)

Sue Krawitz Tandoc:  My kids and I love The Sandlot! It's classic and wholesome with great characters, story and truly shows what life was like for kids before electronics took over.

    E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial (1982)

Kelly R:  Sprinkle some Reese's Pieces on your popcorn and you have the perfect spooky family movie night. There's some iffy language and some pretty frightening situations, but my kids first saw it and loved it when they were 4 and 7.

    Toy Story (1995)

Sue Krawitz Tandoc:  Toy Story and its sequels are some of the best family movies of all time! Kids will delight in the talking toys that come to life and parents will laugh along with the adult humor.

    Trolls (2016)

Michael Farina:  If you are planning to watch this near bedtime, be sure to leave a little extra time for an impromptu dance party. My 3-yo leads us in a dance every time we watch this flick.

    Yes Day (2021)

Vanessa M.:  The Netflix original movie Yes Day is the perfect film for your next family movie night. Starring Jennifer Garner as the mom who always says no, she and her husband are challenged to give their children a yes day - a whole day where kids are in charge! This movie received thumbs up from parents and kids alike, and also inspired us to have our own yes day!

Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory (1971)

Kristy Pepping:  What kid doesn't want a trip to a candy factory to taste test? This classic family movie is full of color, imagination and has great lessons for kids.

    Wonder (2017)

Kelly R:  This family movie (and the book that inspired it) have been revisited many times in my house, and I'm glad for all of the opportunities to talk about kindness and acceptance.

    Mrs. Doubtfire (1993)

Beth Wood:  This hilarious comedy stars Robin Williams as a father who wants to spend more time with his children after his divorce. In order to do so, he dresses up and takes on the persona of a British nanny and applies for a job with the family. Keeping up with the charade leads to many funny situations. Some adult themes and language are expressed so this is better suited as a movie for tweens and older.

    Onward (2020)

Gina Blades:  Onward was great, and my kids loved it. They learned some valuable lessons about family, diversity, inclusivity, and kindness.
