5 Museum & Zoo Sleepovers for Philadelphia Kids

Families can spend the night camping at the Elmwood Park Zoo sleepover! The once a month event includes a pizza dinner, flashlight tour of the zoo, campfire and evening activities, an educational show and breakfast in the morning, and admission to the zoo for the rest of the day. Families bring their own camping equipment.

While they no longer offer a full museum sleepover experience, kids can still explore The Penn Museum after dark through Up Late with the Sphinx. All museum galleries are open, and a flashlight tour takes them through several in the dark. Kids will also enjoy games and hands-on workshops.

Shila:  Explore this incredible natural history museum after dark! Explore the exhibits after the museum has closed to the public, and enjoy hands-on experiments and a live animal show, too. A light breakfast will be served in the morning. Events sell out quickly so keep an eye on upcoming dates.

Shila:  Experience the Aquarium’s amazing shark collection, touch tanks, sea turtles, stingrays, penguins, hippos and more during the Adventure Aquarium's Shark in the Dark Overnight Program. Activities include scavenger hunts, free exploration time, 4D theatre shows and spending the night sleeping up close with your favorite aquatic animal. A light evening snack and continental breakfast will be served.

This overnight camp out happens twice a year - once in the spring and once in the fall - and families are invited to bring their own tents and sleep under the stars next to excavators, diggers & dumpers. During the evening of the camp out, you'll also get to experience all the park attractions & arcades late night! Dinner, dessert, bonfires & s'mores are provided that evening, followed by breakfast the next morning and general admission to enjoy the park for a second day.
