Cool NYC Story Times Worth Bookmarking

Enjoy a free story time at The Met, featuring picture-book readings connected to objects in The Met collection. Each month will explore a new theme.

Jennie Utsinger:  Both locations of Greenlight Bookstore host Story Time for kids. Listen to a story and enjoy a craft. Readers include children's book authors or illustrators, store employees, and neighborhood performers.

Jennie Utsinger:  The professional Hans Christian Andersen Storytellers perform at Central Park during the summer and fall at the Hans Christian Andersen statue The Ugly Duckling. The storytellers recount fairy tales and folk tales from around the world, often incorporating music.

Jennie Utsinger:  Plan a visit to the DiMenna Children's History Museum on Sunday and join story time. Stories often tie into current exhibits or have historical relevance. Children also enjoy a craft inspired by the story.

Join Karma Kids with your toddler for yoga featuring animated poses incorporating storytelling, puppets and songs.

Kelly R:  Sugar Hill Children's Museum of Art & Storytelling knows the power of a good book, and invites talented readers with local ties to the community to lead Story Hours each week. Kids are engaged in an interactive reading that might include song, dance, instruments, and play.

Kelly R:  Brooklyn Bridge Park brings a breath of fresh air to storytime for the summer months, where librarians share books from the Brooklyn Public Library's summer reading list and engage kids in songs and other activities.

Jennie Utsinger:  Once a month, kids can attend Saturday Stories at the Society of Illustrators. Each workshop features a different picture book and is led by guest illustrators and Society staff. After listening to the story, kids can participate in a workshop exploring how illustrators create their books. A snack is provided.
