Lucky Charms Cereal Switch
Shila: I purchase Lucky Charms for my kids to enjoy around St. Paddy's day, and it's fun to use for leprechaun tricks, too! Switch out the interior bag of two cereal boxes, so when someone goes to pour their Lucky Charms into a bowl, they receive something else - like Grape Nuts! You can also do the reverse and have the surprise pour be Lucky Charms!
Green Food Coloring in the Toilet
Alexandra F.: This is about as creative as we’ve gotten in our family, but it is still a huge hit with the kids! A few drops of green food coloring in the toilet lets them know the leprechaun paid a visit and left his mark.
Green Door Barricade
Alexandra F.: Barricade the door to your child's bedroom with green paper party streamers so they have to tear their way through them when they wake up in the morning!
Green Balloons
Blow up a bunch of green balloons and toss them around the house for the kids to discover!
Green Shoelaces
The leprechaun can swap the laces on your kid's favorite shoes for a bright green pair!
Googly Eyes
Kelly R: The leprechaun can add googly eyes to anything around the house...all of the fruit in the fruit bowl, your child's bathroom mirror, etc!
Pot of Gold Candy
Kelly R: Our leprechaun has left behind a "pot of gold" filled with gold-wrapped candy. We had See's lollypops, but gold coins, Reese's or Werther's are also perfect!
Leprechaun Footprints
Alexandra F.: Leave a trail of footprints near any of your leprechaun pranks, or on their own just for fun! It’s easy - dip the side of your hand in washable green paint to make the foot outline, and use your finger tips for toes.
Upside Down Furniture
Kelly R: My kids get a kick out of this leprechaun trick at school, but it's really fun at home, too! It's always surprising to walk into a room and find that the leprechaun has turned the furniture upside down. Dining chairs can be upside down on the table, kids' desks can be upside down, etc!
Green Milk
Green food dye comes in handy for many leprechaun tricks at home! Add several drops into a gallon of milk or directly into your kids' cereal bowls.
Green Toenails
Surprise your kid by painting his or her toenails green in the middle of the night. Use a fast-dry polish to avoid ruining your sheets. This is especially fun if you make it a tradition year after year!
Green Light Bulbs
Kids will be surprised to find that the leprechaun has swapped a standard lightbulb or two out for green ones when they flip on the lights!
Rainbow Windows
Use store bought or homemade window paint to add colorful rainbows to your home or car windows. You can even sprinkle a few gold coins at the end of the rainbow!
Green Glitter Hairbrush
Shila: Leprechaun tricks can be pretty mischievous! Can you camouflage a tiny dash of green glitter into someone's hairbrush in the morning? If so, they'll be shining all St. Patrick's day long!
Surprise Tattoos
Shila: My kids sleep like (blarney) stones, and wouldn't flinch if I went into their bedrooms at night to apply temporary St. Patrick's Day tattoos. How funny would it be for your child to wake up in the morning with a playful green shamrock applied to the face?!
