The I Love You Book

The I Love You Book by Todd Parr is about unconditional love. It shows kids that families love each other in good times and bad. As with all of Parr's book, the bright, basic illustrations and simple text convey very complex thoughts, ideas, and emotions to the youngest readers. Parr says, "I love you when you are silly. I love you when you are sad. I love you when you are stinky. I love you when we cuddle." It's sure to get a laugh while imparting an important message.

Governors Island

Governors Island has military beginnings with the colonial militia in 1755. It became a major headquarters for the U.S. Army and Coast Guard and was one of the longest continually operating military installations in the U.S. until it closed in 1996. Now it's a beautiful park and national monument filled with family-friendly activities. Try the Slide Hill, bike paths, and play areas. Tour Castle Williams, Fort Jay, and the National Historic Landmark District. Access the island by ferry from lower Manhattan or Brooklyn.

The Chelsea line of dolls are sweet, simple, and much smaller than the standard Barbie. These dolls are 6 inches tall and thicker than a traditional Barbie, making them easier for little ones to play with, and sized just right to use as stocking stuffers for toddlers and younger kids.
